Cavs Owner Acts Like LeBron Is 'Runaway Slave: Jackson

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's open message to LeBron James certainly wasn't a love letter, but was it hate mail? Jesse Jackson seems to think so. Gilbert "speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers," Jackson said in a press release issued yesterday. "His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner-employee relationship—between business partners—and LeBron honored his contract."

Jackson went on to call the comments “mean, arrogant, and presumptuous,” and an attack on all NBA players, and urged the league to take action, reports the AP. (More Dan Gilbert stories.)
