An interim priest at an Anglican church in Toronto has apologized to her flock after giving communion to a dog, apparently on a whim. The National Post sees it as a sort of proxy fight between liberal and conservative branches, but the priest herself just wants the story to go away. “Please,” she said. “It’s over. I said that the incident is over. Thank you very much. God Bless."
Says one critic: "I don’t recall anything from the Scripture saying anything about Jesus dying for the salvation of our pets.’’ Counters the dog's owner (who's not a parishioner but was invited into church one day by the minister while with his dog): “Holy smokes. This is small stuff. I thought it was innocent. ... The church is even getting emails from Catholics.”
