Awesome entry in the cat-came-back department: A Biloxi cat named Scrub has been reunited with his family five years after he disappeared in the aftermath of Katrina. He'd been turned in as a stray about 15 miles away, and the humane society tracked his owners through a microchip, reports the Mississippi Sun Herald.

“If he could talk, I’m sure he has quite a story to tell us," Scrub's owner tells the newspaper. The former indoor cat looks a bit the worse for wear, with a small chunk of one ear missing. "He is not as docile as he used to be," says Jennifer Noble. "He’s got a little bit of wild in him and you see it every once in a while." (More cat stories.)
