Wife Fakes Kidnapping to See if Hubby Would Pay Ransom
In this day and age, it's hipper to send a ransom text than note.   (©re-ality)

Strike this from the list of "Ways to know if my husband truly loves me": A Spanish woman has been detained after faking her own kidnapping to see if her husband would be willing to fork over the ransom money. According to police, she texted him a photo of herself in which her hands and feet were bound, along with demands that $26,000 be paid for her release. She sent follow-up messages repeating the request and telling him not to go to the police. Predictably, he did.

Police then launched a search, spotted her car, and tracked her to a mall, reports the AFP. At first she said the kidnappers released her, but then admitted it was all a ruse "to find out what her husband would be willing to do for her." (Click for more hilarious tales of dumb criminals.)
