Appalachian State made history last night by sealing their third straight Division I-AA championship with a 49-21 victory over Delaware, AP reports. The defending champions controlled the pulse of the game from the outset, getting lucky calls and making skillful plays to keep the No. 13 Fightin' Blue Hens from ever threatening to take the lead.

The Mountaineers' Armanti Edwards completed 9-of-15 passes for 198 yards and built up 89 more rushing, to which Kevin Richardson added 145 yards and three touchdowns. Neither team resorted to field goals in a game that saw Appalachian State drive 99 yards for one touchdown, run 46 unhindered yards for a second, and recover a fumble for another.
