Latest Obama Scandal: Umbrellas

Benghazi, the IRS, the AP and now ... Marines holding umbrellas. That's the latest "scandal" to send Republican fists shaking in the general direction of President Obama. During a press conference with the Prime Minister of Turkey yesterday, Obama asked two Marines to protect the leaders' suits by holding umbrellas over them, reports the Washington Post. This is, apparently, not a good look for a Marine in uniform. "Marines are always out getting rained on, that’s sort of what we do," said a Marine spokesperson, but added that it's OK to hold an umbrella if the president asks.

Conservatives were all atwitter. "Mr. President, when it rains it pours, but most Americans hold their own umbrellas," tweeted Sarah Palin, while the Move America Forward PAC coined the admittedly clever hashtag #SemperDry. So far, there has been no call for hearings into "Umbrella-gate." (More Marines stories.)
