Vanilla Ice wishes the world "would focus on all the good things I've done" (like this, probably) rather than on the allegations that he's a burglar. The 47-year-old rapper-turned-home-renovator, real name Robert Van Winkle, was booked into a Florida jail yesterday and then released; he's been charged with burglary and grand theft over allegations that he and his reality show crew ransacked a home under foreclosure next door to the home they were renovating for his DIY Network show, The Vanilla Ice Project. But, he told reporters as he left Palm Beach County Jail, the whole thing is "a misunderstanding," NBC Miami reports.
"It was blown out of proportion," he continued. "It's sad that good news doesn't travel this fast. It's just out of proportion and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I've done. It'll all get cleared up, you'll see." The rapper is accused of taking furniture, bikes, a pool heater, and more, and police say the items were ultimately found at a residence under his "care and control." The real estate broker for the burgled home is baffled: "Why would you jeopardize going to jail for basically junk?" he wonders. "It was just worthless furniture and some items, so it doesn't make much sense." The DIY Network says it is "currently looking into the matter" as well. (Read more Vanilla Ice stories.)
