It's a tough time to be a Game of Thrones fan: The show's writers may or may not have killed off (another) major character, rumors of a movie were squelched, and now author George RR Martin says he's missed a Dec. 31 deadline for the latest book in the series, The Winds of Winter. "You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed," Martin writes in a blog post, "but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me." What that means in practical terms: Season 6 of the show will start airing in April, before the book is published, notes NPR. So, when is Winter coming? "When delivery will be, I can't say. I'm not going to set another deadline for myself to trip over," says Martin. "The deadlines just stress me out." (More Game of Thrones stories.)
