Just as they had done a couple of weeks ago, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan strode out onto the stage of Live With Kelly and Michael on Friday holding hands—except this is likely the last time they'll do it. It was Strahan's final day on their ABC morning show, the culmination of nearly a month's worth of strained relations between the co-hosts after Strahan announced he was leaving to go to Good Morning America, Us Weekly reports. Strahan was originally scheduled to stay on until the end of the summer, but his exit was expedited to this week, the AP notes. "Don't take this as a bad sign—it's Friday the 13th," Ripa started off the show saying, to which Strahan replied: "Thirteen is a lucky number. … I am not 6 feet under—I'm 6 feet, 5 above the ground. I'm happy. It's another day." He added, per ABC News, that his departure was "bittersweet."

And they mostly played nice on Friday's show, featuring jokes about now-discounted show merch and a goodbye montage of Strahan's most memorable moments, which included a clip from Strahan's first day on the show in September 2012. Strahan reassured viewers that it wasn't the end of the world that he was departing, noting, "I'm not dying! I'm still in the family. And I'm still available to come back if I'm ever called to co-host." Even Ripa seemed amenable to that idea, joking that she'd be going on vacation in a couple of weeks, though Strahan then stepped back his offer, saying, "I don't know about that. Do they say too soon?" Ripa even gave him a going-away present: a set of bronzed high heels, per USA Today. "Nobody rocks a size-16 stiletto better than you," she said. (Ripa and Strahan won a final award together before his departure.)
