An Iowa county supervisor is dead after what the Des Moines Register calls a "bizarre" accident outside a grain bin near Missouri Valley. Russ Kurth, who was elected to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors in 2014, was investigating the new bin Tuesday morning because corn was leaking from one of the doors, KETV reports. As the 63-year-old and another man were near the door, it suddenly opened, and Kurth was buried in corn. He was pulled from underneath more than an hour later and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The other man survived. (More freak accident stories.)
