A Middle Eastern folk tale just trounced a raunchy high school comedy at the weekend box office, Variety reports. Aladdin grabbed top spot with a higher-than-expected $86.1 million and will likely hit $105 million by Monday, making it the sixth-highest Memorial Day long weekend grosser ever. Among other new movies, the R-rated Booksmart—which is getting great reviews—took sixth with $6.5 million and the new superhero horror flick Brightburn earned fifth with $7.5 million. Filling out the top five were John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum ($24.4 million), Avengers: Endgame ($16.8 million), and Pokemon Detective Pikachu ($13.3 million), per the AP.
