John McCain’s campaign debuted another Barack Obama gag today as aides distributed tire gauges labeled “Obama Energy Plan” to reporters and donors, Politico reports. The campaign is mocking the Democrat’s suggestion that motorists increase gas mileage by keeping their tires full. The Obama campaign responded by pointing out that many prominent Republicans have spoken out in favor of minding tire pressure.

"John McCain says we need offshore oil drilling and we need it now," campaign manager Rick Davis told supporters. "Barack Obama has consistently opposed offshore drilling—calling it a 'gimmick.' Sen. Obama's solution to high gas prices is telling Americans to make sure their tires are inflated." (More John McCain stories.)
