The coordinator of the Bowl Championship Series told Congress today that a switch to a playoff system would threaten even the most celebrated college football bowl games, the AP reports. Advertising dollars would switch to playoffs, said John Swofford, “meaning that it will be very difficult for any bowl, including the current BCS bowls … to survive.” But Swofford faces a hardening coalition of teams, fans, and pols—including the president—who believe the system is unfair.
