Signs the Mean Girl Era Is Over
Britney Spears: Her comeback album was actually good, and the only “scandal” to arise from her world tour involved the not-very-bombshell revelation that she lip syncs onstage.   (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello)

Gone are the good old days when tabloids were filled with stories of Paris Hilton getting arrested and Britney Spears shaving her head—the world of celebrities is now ruled by do-gooders like Taylor Swift. You may rejoice momentarily, but “you’ll miss Paris Hilton now that she’s gone,” promises Richard Rushfield. He offers up the evidence of a new era, on Gawker:

  • Paris Hilton: Her biggest moment in the spotlight in nearly a year was when she released a shampoo line.

  • Britney Spears: Her comeback album was actually good, and the only “scandal” to arise from her world tour involved the not-very-bombshell revelation that she lip syncs onstage.
  • Lindsay Lohan: Sure, she’s still crazy, but thanks to constant outbursts on Twitter, no one pays attention anymore.
  • Taylor Swift: The sweet, dorky mega-star has eclipsed pole-dancing Miley Cyrus.
  • Kristen Stewart: She may be moody, “but to date she has yet to release a sex tape, openly steal a friend's boyfriend, get arrested, or publicly lash out in an insane hate-filled rant.”
