Just days after celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe was too “distraught” over Alexander McQueen’s death to attend a Project Runway fashion show, the designer’s ex-partner called out fashion world “hangers-on” for their meaningless condolences. “It's been fashion, fashion, fashion,” George Forsyth tells the Daily Mail, “but what about him as a person? That's the real loss and the real waste.”

“The truth is, the fashion world is the loneliest place on the face of the planet. It's a shallow world full of party people and party ‘friends,’” he continues. The New York Daily News notes that the most recent “party people” to mourn the fashion world’s loss include Zoe (whose absence at the show “caused a panic,” says a source) and Patti Smith, who “was repeatedly screaming ‘Alexander’ and ‘Queen’ in between songs” at a recent performance, says a source. “It was a little much.”
