Democratic Rep. Steve Rothman's chief of staff has been fired after allegedly trying to solicit sex from an underage girl. Robert Decheine—who was a senior adviser for President Obama's campaign in New Jersey—was one of 11 people caught in a police sting operation and has been charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor, say law enforcement authorities.

"Congressman Rothman immediately consulted appropriate House counsel and terminated Mr. Decheine’s employment," a spokesman for the New Jersey lawmaker tells Politico. Rothman "considers this alleged criminal act to be shocking, appalling, and indefensible. As a parent, he understands the vital importance of protecting our children from predators."
