So you thought Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" sounds like Madonna's "Express Yourself"? Well, "that's retarded," Gaga shoots back in a recent interview, adding, "I am not stupid enough to put out a record and be that moronic." Oh No They Didn't points to the profanity-laced NME interview, in which Gaga insists, "If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years."

"Just because I'm the first f**king artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means I'm f**king smart. Sorry," she continues. Later, while crying, she adds, "I feel like honestly that God sent me those lyrics and that melody. When you feel a message to give to the world and people are shooting arrows through it ... there's no way for something that pure to be wrong." Opines Seth Abramovitch for Gawker, "It's getting a little difficult to stay sympathetic to Gaga's divine cause when she casually throws around terms like 'retarded.' Last time I checked, the intellectually disabled were born that way, too." (More Lady Gaga stories.)
