NetFlix Tries to Pre-Empt Apple
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is expected to announce details of its movie streaming service Tuesday. Netflix is already fighting back by expanding its service.    (Associated Press)

Netflix and Apple are preparing to go head-to-head in the burgeoning business of delivering movies over the Internet . AP reports Netflix is expanding its fledgling movie streaming service,  Watch Instantly, to give most subscribers unlimited access to 6,000 titles. The move comes just as Apple is about to launch its movie streaming service to iTunes users.

Apple's Steve Jobs is expected to announce its entry into the market in San Francisco  Tuesday. Most consumers still prefer to watch movies on a big screen, so the key to success for both companies may be their set top boxes. Apple began selling a $299 device last year;  the Netflix box won't be available for several months. (More Netflix stories.)
