The Jacksonville International Airport has been evacuated because of "police activity" regarding suspicious packages. The airport posted the information on its official Twitter feed this evening, but offered no other details. Airport officials also tweeted that passengers on inbound flights currently on the ground were being bused to offsite hotels. The local Times-Union says one suspicious package was found inside the airport terminal and a second inside a parking garage. A witness tells the newspaper that he saw two men being handcuffed in different locations.

“There’s an active investigation going on,” says an airport spokesman. “I can’t recall since I’ve been at the airport that an entire terminal has been evacuated, and I’ve been here nine years.” (More Jacksonville stories.)
