Rosie O'Donnell tweeted this afternoon that her teen daughter is safe and in police custody after being missing for a week. It's not clear yet what happened with Chelsea, 17. Earlier today, O'Donnell announced on her website that the teen had been reported missing to police in Nyack, New York. Chelsea had left home last Tuesday with her therapy dog and hadn't been seen since. The post didn't make clear why the girl needed a therapy dog, but it added that she had "stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention." At one point, O'Donnell tweeted that she might be in New York City.

O'Donnell adopted Chelsea as a baby, and the girl's biological mother alleged publicly in March that O'Donnell had "stolen" the baby, recounts Radar. The woman, Deanna Micoley, told the National Enquirer that O'Donnell took advantage of Micoley's drug and alcohol problems at the time of the adoption, an allegation that O'Donnell has flatly denied. O'Donnell left the View in February to spend more time with her family, notes Mashable. "Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention," said a rep at the time. "This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first." (More Rosie O'Donnell stories.)
