Family's Drive to Deliver Baby No. 3 Ends in Tragedy
Tony and Jill Schmucker   (GoFundMe)

One Colorado family's car ride to the hospital to deliver their third son ended in terrible tragedy: As 9News reports, 37-year-old Tony Schmucker of Larimer County was at the wheel in the early hours of Wednesday when he suffered some sort of medical episode, lost control of the family SUV, and went down an embankment, hit a boulder and a tree, and rolled. With both Schmucker and his wife, Jill, unconscious after the crash, their son Ryder—in the backseat with his brother—called 911; emergency crews extricated both parents.

Tony Schmucker was rushed to a local hospital, but died; Jill Schmucker suffered a broken back in the accident, and underwent a successful emergency C-section to deliver a baby boy, notes the Coloradoan. She's expected to fully recover. The two boys in the backseat suffered minor injuries. A GoFundMe page for the family has thus far raised more than $36,000. (More Colorado stories.)
