Maddy McCann scolded her parents on the morning she vanished for ignoring her sobs the previous night, and her parents promised to keep a better eye on her, the London Times reports. The leaked transcripts of police interviews with Kate and Gerry McCann surfaced as the McCanns visited Brussels to campaign for a European version of Amber Alert.

“While we were having breakfast, Maddie said, ‘Mummy, why didn’t you come when we were crying last night?’” Kate McCain told police. “Gerry and I agreed to keep a closer watch over the children." A family spokesman said the release of the comments, now 11 months old, was a deliberate attempt to smear the parents on the Brussels trip. (More Gerry McCann stories.)
