(Newser) – The unfortunate modern angle of the Olympics: The Pyeongchang Games has now recorded its first athlete to be booted over a doping test. Japanese speed skater Kei Saito tested positive for an unspecified banned substance and will not be allowed to compete, according to a report in Kyodo News picked up by USA Today. The newspaper notes that the development is a rare blemish on Japan's reputation for clean athletes. The 21-year-old Saito's sister is on Japan's short-track team. (This Olympic skater avoided what could have been an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.)
