Naked and afraid? Maybe, but Victor Vickery is still accused of manslaughter. The Florida man was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating a peeping Tom to death outside his girlfriend's Fort Lauderdale home, the Miami Herald reports. Police say he was in bed with Samantha Hobi last July when they heard a noise at the window; naked and barefoot, Vickery went outside and found partly naked Asaad Akar, 57, at the window with his penis out. Vickery, 30, beat Akar so badly that police say they found him "covered in blood and unconscious." Akar was taken to Broward North Hospital and died there less than two hours later of blunt traumatic injuries, per ABC 13.

It's unclear why Vickery's arrest took so long—Broward authorities filed their charge Sept. 30—but it seems Hobi recently recanted an earlier statement that she had also hit Akar. Hobi now says Vickery told her to say she had struck him with a shovel. For his part, Vickery says he fought Akar because he feared for his own safety, per the Palm Beach Post. His relationship with Hobi apparently went downhill months after Akar died, when she filed a restraining order against Vickery. He was also arrested last August on a rape charge involving a woman identified as his ex-girlfriend. He was out on $75,000 bond for that case and is now being held on $100,000 bond awaiting trial.
