The death toll from the tornadoes that ripped through Nashville and central Tennessee overnight has jumped to at least 25, reports the AP. Of those, 16 were in Putnam County, per the Tennessean. At least two fatalities were in Nashville. The new totals came as search crews continued to comb through damaged homes and buildings. One tornado did extensive damage to downtown Nashville and surrounding neighborhoods, including Germantown. Authorities say about 40 buildings collapsed. (More tornado stories.)
