Actor Morgan Freeman is in serious condition after a car crash in Mississippi last night, reports the AP. The 71-year-old Oscar winner was airlifted 90 miles to a Memphis hospital after flipping his car several times. A business partner of Freeman's said he suffered some fractures but is expected to make a full recovery, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported.

The car Freeman was driving appeared to go airborne as it veered off a highway and landed in a ditch, a witness who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident said. "They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," said the witness. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."
