Add another high-profile name to the list of men who are being accused of sexual assault in the waning hours of the Adult Survivors Act: New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The act grants adult survivors of sexual abuse one year to sue their abusers in New York state regardless of whether the statute of limitations had already expired. That year is up on Friday. In a Wednesday court filing, the plaintiff alleges she was "sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York."

The summons with notice filed in Manhattan Supreme Court says the allegations relate to "sexual assault, battery and employment discrimination on the basis of Plaintiff's gender and sex, retaliation, hostile work environment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress." ABC7 reports the summons "is a precursor to a complaint that would lay out details of the alleged assault." A city hall rep tells the Guardian, "The mayor does not know who this person is. If they ever met, he doesn't recall it." (More Eric Adams stories.)
