Derek Jeter broke the New York Yankees' hit record held by Lou Gehrig for more than seven decades, singling to right field in the third inning of tonight's game against visiting Baltimore.That gave the shortstop 2,722 hits, one more than Gehrig. Jeter, 35, added an RBI single in the fourth, and rain held off long enough for the teams to play five innings, the minimum for an official game.
