A Memphis student plotted the theft that led to Tigers defensive lineman Taylor Bradford being shot and killed, police say. The student, Devin Jefferson, 21, was charged late yesterday, confirming a hunch that the three muggers had a tip-off from inside the University of Memphis, reports the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

"He was targeted because of the information that was out there," a Memphis police director said. "They believed he had some cash, or something else they wanted." Jefferson, who had a long-standing feud with Bradford, apparently planned the robbery and enlisted the three others to execute it. All four suspects are eligible for the death penalty.
