It's probably just a coincidence, what with the kids probably just eloping and all, but Bill and Hillary Clinton were hanging out in Rhinebeck yesterday as wedding fever officially took over the small upstate New York town. Chelsea was nowhere in sight, but Bubba was spotted strolling through town on his way to lunch as crowds gathered and cheered, and Rhinebeck claimed the former first clan as its own: When asked by the AP what Clinton had for lunch, the restaurateur said it would be impolite to reveal.

The parents of the bride likewise put in an appearance at a hotel last night, and residents gathered to see what luminaries might show: Madeleine Albright, Vernon Jordan, and Steve Bing were among notables spotted. Meanwhile, Chelsea's wedding planner soothed neighbors inconvenienced by closed roads and traffic today with a bottle of wine—not that they seemed to mind. "I think it's great. It's a happy occasion," said one resident. "It's good publicity for the town. It's just a weekend. What's losing a weekend in the summer?" (More Chelsea Clinton stories.)
