If you need suggestions for who to follow on Twitter, look no further than Time's list of this year's 140 best feeds, by Allie Townsend and Amy Lombard:

  • Experts: As a teen, writer and activist Ed Husain was a radical Islamist, and as such, he "provides Twitter with one of its greatest insights" into that world.
  • Culture: Media Bistro's Galley Cat blog gives insight into the publishing industry. Where else could you discover that erotic phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey started out as Twilight fan fiction?
  • Sports: Erin Andrews shatters the sports journalist stereotype, both in person and on Twitter.

  • Art, Style, and Photography: "The great thing about Kate Spade’s tweets? They aren’t all product related," but they are all stylish.
  • Humor: The Times Is On It parodies journalism's "trend story." Sample tweet: "GUYS, puppies are now an acceptable part of any wedding party, and The Times is ON IT."
  • News and Information: Lisa Ling, Anderson Cooper, and Pat Kiernan all make the cut.
  • Tech and Geek: Jay Rosen, who tweets about the digital revolution, "is the professor every college student in the country wishes they had."
