Nearly a month after his election defeat, Mitt Romney is returning to corporate life. Marriott International says Romney has rejoined its board of directors, which he left in January 2011, CNN reports. "It is an honor to once again be able to serve in the company of leaders like Bill Marriott and Arne Sorenson," Romney said in a statement.

The Romney and Marriott families have a friendship stretching back decades, with George Romney having named his son Willard Mitt Romney after J. Willard Marriott, the hotel chain's founder. The Obama campaign targeted Romney's Marriott connections during the campaign with an ad linking Romney to a huge tax avoidance scheme at Marriott in the '90s, when he chaired its audit committee.
