Clay Aiken: from American Idol runner-up to US congressman? Maybe. Two sources tell the Washington Blade Aiken has taken steps toward running for a US House seat representing North Carolina's 2nd congressional district, including talking with Democratic political operatives in North Carolina and DC to weigh support. One source says Aiken hasn't made a formal decision yet, but is "sounding and acting like a candidate." The filing deadline is Feb. 28, with the primary taking place May 6. Republican Renee Ellmers currently holds the seat, but one House Democratic aide says it's a "winnable" race for Democrats. (Read more Clay Aiken stories.)
