The actor who portrayed a husband in an infamous Peleton commercial this holiday shopping season apparently isn't cowed by public reaction. He announced on social media that he got his real-life girlfriend one of the company's exercise bikes, reports TMZ. "Here's hoping this goes over better the second time," wrote Sean Hunter on Instagram. "Merry Christmas to my actual girlfriend (pls don't leave me)." Critics had called the commercial sexist and said the Peloton husband in the ad was objectifying his wife and pressuring her to lose weight.

"It’s a bold move from a guy whose reaction was poorly received in the wake of the bike brouhaha earlier this month," notes the Los Angeles Times. The company took note of Hunter's post on Thursday. "Looks like a successful Christmas gift to us!" it wrote. "We hope you love it, and we’re so glad you’re a part of the Peloton family!" In real life, Hunter is an elementary school teacher based in Vancouver. (The "Peloton wife" blamed her facial expressions in the commercial for the controversy.)
