It's time to take online dating seriously. Seriously. It's now a $1.049 billion a year industry used by 40 million Americans—236 of whom get married every day, according eHarmony. That would amount to 2% of all US marriages, notes this infographic from OnlineSchools.org. Other fun facts:

  • Women have more online pursuers than men at age 26
  • But men have twice as many pursuers at age 48
  • Men lie most about their age, height, and income
  • Women lie most about their weight, body type, and age
  • Dating site users spend an average of $239 a year
  • One out of 10 sex offenders use dating sites to meet people
