The atmosphere was 'surreal,' notes one fashion writer

Despite John Galliano’s highly publicized recent troubles, his signature collection was shown yesterday in Paris. “The atmosphere was somewhat surreal,” writes Eric Wilson in the New York Times. Editors were expecting something informal, but arrived “to discover that seats had been scattered around for a slightly more formal showing on models.” The chief executive of Dior was there, showing “perhaps a signal of support for the behind-the-scenes staff members of Mr. Galliano’s atelier.” Wilson did make note of the music selection, which included Coldplay’s "Viva La Vida" (which begins "I used to rule the world...")
