John Boehner was still jockeying with the scheduling of economic speeches today, but this time it's his own: The House speaker will give a major address on jobs and the recovery one week after President Obama addresses Congress, reports the Hill. Boehner will speak at the Economic Club of Washington the afternoon of Sept. 15. He has used the same venue for big speeches before, including in May when he laid out his conditions for raising the debt ceiling, notes USA Today.

Obama's speech, meanwhile, has now been scheduled to take place at 7pm EST next Thursday, meaning it won't conflict with the NFL opener 90 minutes later. "I can assure all you football fans that he will be completed before kick-off," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.
