Descendants, The Artist Win Big

'Homeland' also does well at the Golden Globes

Be honest: You tuned in to the Golden Globes tonight mostly to see what Ricky Gervais would say. But awards were handed out too, and The Artist and The Descendants were the big film winners. Both won best picture and best actor in their respective categories (comedy or musical for the former, drama for the latter), and The Artist also won best original score. In the TV categories, Homeland did well, winning best drama series and best actress in a drama series. More big winners:

  • Best Director: Martin Scorsese, Hugo
  • Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady
  • Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical: Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn
  • Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture: Christopher Plummer, Beginners
  • Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture: Octavia Spencer, The Help
  • Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical: Modern Family
  • Best Miniseries or TV Movie: Downton Abbey
  • Best Actor in a TV Series, Drama: Kelsey Grammer, Boss
  • Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical: Laura Dern, Enlightened
  • Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical: Matt LeBlanc, Episodes
