A freelance photographer is suing Pierce Brosnan for assault, battery and negligence, claiming the actor “suddenly and without warning” attacked him in an October altercation, E! News reports. The complaint charges the confrontation in a Malibu parking lot caused “severe physical and emotional pain and injuries, including bruised ribs.” Representatives for Brosnan have not commented on the allegations.

Last month, Los Angeles prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to press charges against the star of the James Bond series. The photographer had told police that Brosnan punched him when he approached the actor and his young son. The suit seeks lost earnings, medical costs, and unspecified punitive damages.
