New Jersey scored five power play goals en route to a 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers last night, as defenseman Johnny Oduya had his best game of the year, at least points-wise, scoring a goal and tallying three assists. Zach Parise and Patrik Elias each scored two goals as the Devils moved into first place in the Atlantic Division, reports the Associated Press. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Jaromir Jagr had a goal and two assists as the New York Rangers defeated the Atlanta Thrashers 4-0. Henrik Lundqvist needed only 14 saves to preserve the shutout.
  • The Islanders scored three short-handed goals for the first time since 2000 and defeated the Hurricanes 6-3. Mike Sillinger had two of the short-handed tallies.
