Nintendo isn't exactly known for a love of TV and movies—one reason might be the disaster that was 1993's Super Mario Bros. movie. But the Wall Street Journal reports, via a "person familiar with the matter," that the video-game company is planning a new show, this one based on another hit game series, The Legend of Zelda. The game's essential story involves the rescue of Princess Zelda by a sword-wielding youth named Link, Rolling Stone reports.

But there are many versions of the tale in the series' many games, meaning producers will have plenty of material to work with should the live-action show go forward, the magazine notes. Right now, the show is in the "early stages" of development, the Journal reports; Netflix is looking for writers for what it compares to a family-friendly Game of Thrones. (More Nintendo stories.)
