Dallas lost its third consecutive game against a Western Conference division leader tonight, giving up 16 straight points during the fourth quarter in a 116-110 loss to Utah. The Mavericks, now 4-4 since acquiring point guard Jason Kidd, had trailed by 21 early in the game but managed to actually take a three-point lead before the Jazz' late spurt, reports AP.

Utah, now a league-best 26-3 at home, lost Andrei Kirilenko to a hip injury in the first quarter on a flagrant foul by Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki. His teammates picked up the slack, though, as Deron Williams had a whopping 20 assists, while Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur combined for 48 points. The Mavs sit seventh in the tough Western Conference. (More NBA stories.)
