Erik Ersberg played as about a perfect game as an NHL goalie could last night as he made 40 saves in just his third start ever to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-0 win over the Ottawa Senators, reports AP. Ersberg, who is taking over for injured starter Jason LaBarbera, had 16 saves in the first period alone. In other NHL action:

  • Eric Cole scored the go-ahead goal in the second period as the Carolina Hurricanes won their sixth game in seven tries with a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
  • Craig Anderson's shut-out streak ended, but his winning streak didn't as the Florida Panthers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2. Anderson had recorded two straight 1-0 wins.
