Battling Australian authorities over illegally imported dogs and making an apology video apparently wasn't an experience that brought Johnny Depp and Amber Heard closer together. The Los Angeles Times reports that Heard, 30, filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and designating May 22 as the date of separating. The petition was filed just three days after the death of Depp's mother. The couple, who met while filming 2011's The Rum Diary and secretly wed in February last year, have no children together.
Depp has asked a judge to reject Heard's request for spousal support, reports TMZ, which notes the custody of terriers Boo and Pistol is still up in the air. People points out that Depp was absent from Heard's 30th birthday celebration in April in Palm Springs, Calif. (On Jimmy Kimmel this week, Depp quipped that Australia's deputy prime minister appears to be "inbred with a tomato.")
