The Boston Bruins worked hard to get a break and Carey Price gave a big one right to them. Glen Metropolit scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period after Price caused a reckless turnover and Boston went on to beat the Canadiens 5-1 tonight to avoid elimination in their first-round series. Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for the Bruins.

Zdeno Chara scored Boston's second power-play goal of the game to increase the lead to 3-1. Marco Sturm scored a short-handed goal when he drove a slap shot past Price into the top right corner, while Vladimir Sobotka added an unassisted effort. Game 6 is Saturday night in Boston. The Bruins trail the Canadiens this series, 3-2. (More Carey Price stories.)
