$5 gas? It was a reality at at least one station in the US on Tuesday, specifically at a Mobil station in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen, reports Fox5NY. Technically, the price hit $4.999. That's higher than the $3.18 average in New York City overall, according to AAA, while nationally the average has risen in recent days to $2.932, reports the Hill. That's up 12 cents over the last two weeks, per Newsweek, and the average price was expected to tick up to $2.95 for the Memorial Day weekend, the highest since the holiday's $3.65 average in 2014. Prices are up in every state for the second straight week, and a Gas Buddy survey suggests significantly fewer Americans will be making road trips this summer as a result.
