Dr. Dre Deletes 'Strange Brag' About His Kid Getting Into USC

Dr. Dre is a proud man—his daughter, Truly Young, got into the University of Southern California, and unlike some other celebrity parents, he didn't have to pay somebody to bribe coaches or facilitate cheating on exams. But the hip-hop legend may have gone too far with what Mashable calls a "strange brag" in a now-deleted Instagram post. "My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!" he wrote. Critics were quick to point out that Dre, born Andre Young, and fellow Beats Electronics founder Jimmy Iovine donated $70 million to the school in 2013 to create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, People reports.

"The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media,” said USC President CL Max Nikias in a 2013 press release. The Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Hall is scheduled to open on campus this year. Truly Young said on Instagram that she will be attending the USC School of Cinematic Arts. E! Online notes that other celebrity parents have been praising their children for getting into college legally, including Rob Lowe, who tweeted earlier this month that he is "very proud of my honest, hardworking sons." (Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, meanwhile, are among the parents named in a $500 billion lawsuit stemming from the college admissions scandal.)
