(Newser) – Early supporters of the #FreeBritney movement demanded Britney Spears be freed from her conservatorship even though she claimed she was happy and had an Instagram account that seemed to back that up. In her first public comments since this week's court testimony, where she proved she is very much not happy, the 39-year-old singer apologized for not being truthful, explaining that what you see on social media is not real life. "I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I've posted … my life seems to look and be pretty amazing … But I don't want people to think my life is perfect because IT'S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL," she wrote to her 30 million followers on Instagram on Thursday, per NBC News. "And if you have read anything about me in the news this week … you obviously really know now it's not!!!!"

"I apologize for pretending like I've been ok the past two years," Spears went on. "I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me." But Spears said "pretending that I'm ok has actually helped. ... I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through," she wrote. In her court testimony, Spears said, "I've lied and told the whole world 'I'm OK and I'm happy,'" believing that "maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy," per Yahoo. But "I am traumatized." Ending the conservatorship could still take months or years of court hearings and depositions, beginning with a formal petition for termination from Spears, who said Wednesday she'd never known of that option, per the Guardian.
