Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, last night at a hospital in Nice, France, People reports. As partner Brad Pitt looked on, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born by Cesarean section. “The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly,” said the obstetrician. Knox weighed in at 5.03 lbs., while Vivienne weighed 5 lbs.

“The mother and father are very, very happy,” the doctor said. The twins join Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh in the Brangelina brood. The idea of twins came as a surprise to Jolie, who recently told Entertainment Weekly that “it did shock us. But we like a challenge.” (More Angelina Jolie stories.)
