Mad Men was the big US winner at last night’s BAFTA television awards, beating The Wire and The Daily Show to win best international show, notes the Hollywood Reporter. X Factor, another Simon Cowell-produced talent competition, won best entertainment show, while Kenneth Branagh picked up best drama series for his Scandinavian detective show, Wallander. More winners:

  • Best Actor: Stephen Dillane, The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall
  • Best Actress: Anna Maxwell Martin, Poppy Shakespeare
  • Best Specialist Factual Series: David Attenborough, Life in Cold Blood
  • Best Entertainment Performance: Harry Hill, Harry Hill's TV Burp
  • Best Comedy Performance: David Mitchell, Peep Show
  • Best Situation Comedy: The IT Crowd
  • Best Factual Series: Bruce Parry, Amazon With Bruce Parry
  • Best Current Affairs Series: Saving Africa's Witch Children
  • Best Documentary: Brian Wood, Chosen
  • Philips Audience Award: Skins
